I went to Meijer tonight & got a printout at checkout stating that Meijer stores in central Ohio will stop doubling coupons as of 8/25/13.

I have a question about the 10 for $10, get 11th item free sale… How does that affect using coupons?
For instance, if I buy 12 Hamburger Helpers and use (3) .80/4 Hamburger Helpers coupons, will I still get a free item and will all 3 coupons still work??

    • Jennifer says:

With the Buy 10 for $10, Get the 11th FREE Sale, if the 11th item is attached to a coupon you will not get credit for the coupon.

      • Joy Y. says:

So then how do I use coupons with the sale??

        • Kathy says:

Shopping these sales at Meijer w/ cpns is a bit tricky. You have to be sure that every 11th included item in the sale (which will ring free in a buy 10 get the 11th free sale) is an item you don’t have a coupon for, because Meijer doesn’t allow a cpn on a free item. If you want to get the extra free item in these sales, you need to buy partic items in quantities of 11 (11, 22, 33, etc), but you can mix and match. If you want to buy 12 hamb helper, and use three cpns, you’d have to scan 8 of them, then 2 partic items (which can have cpns), then an item that you don’t have a cpn for as the 11th item (I often use a soft drink 2L that doesn’t have a cpn for this) If you want 4 more, you can either do them separately and only buy 4 items (they’ll still be a $1, you just won’t get the extra free item) or you can add 7 more items in the 10 for 10, once again being sure your 11th item doesn’t have a cpn since it’ll ring free. Remember only 2 like cpns double at Meijer, so it’d be better to do 2 transactions and it might be less confusing.
          Good luck!

Nice answer Kathy! If I were doing it I would split it up into two transactions as you said above. It gets really confusing if you have a big transaction.

        • Serena says:

what I do with the 10 for $10 with the 11th item free sale is always use my 11th free item on fresh veggies or fruit that are included in the sale. It is extremely rare to have coupons for fresh fruit or veggies, so that is the easiest way for me to shop these sales.

          • Kathy says:

That’s often my strategy too, lol I hesitated to use that example, though because recently there have been cpns for earthbound farms and that brand carrots and green onions are often in this sale! These sales are great, but confusing for new couponers already.
We usually go to a self check out because it’s easier to keep the stuff in the right order. If cashiers are not couponers, they normally have no clue why you are putting things in that order (or why it rejected the cpn if out of order).

coupons.com has a %5.00 off a $10.00 purchase of Scotch Expressions Tape. Great deal for scrapbooking, school and home projects.

  4. Lauryn says:

I tried the garnier deal tonight bought 6 shampoos for 17.94. I had 6 1.50 off coupons some from the paper some were printed online. I was told the limit one per purchase means one per transaction so the cashier wasn’t going to let use all 6. She let me do it this time. I have done garnier deals before never had a problem. So just a heads up for others doing this deal. It might have worked better if I had other types of items like makeup or styling products instead of all shampoos.

I had the same thing happen to me ( different product ) and I called Meijer COrp right there in line and the Meijer rep I spoke with said the same thing.
I told her ” per purchase” means per item and she said no it did not.
She told me to have them rang up seperately . I had to go so I didnt do that.

I kindly told her that all of my *purchases* were called a transaction.

      She still was confused.

But what really freaked me out was she asked me for my M perk number AND my pin number.
I didn’t think that was legit at all ~ Should they ask for our PIN numbers ?
